According to a law enforcement source, FBI agents arrested the rapper, who was born William Jr. Maxwell II, in relation to federal drug fees in Citifield on Thursday, October 28.
The arrest came hours before Fetty was expected to perform at the Rolling Loud Music Festival in New York. A representative for the festival told tmz He had no prior knowledge of the artist’s legal issues.
According to a Justice Department press release, Fetty is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances along with other defendants.
“As alleged, the defendants transported, distributed and sold more than 100 kilograms of lethal and addictive drugs, including heroin and fentanyl, on Long Island, knowingly contributed to the opioid epidemic that devastated our communities and took many lives,” United States Representative Brian Peace said in a press release. “We will continue to work closely with our law enforcement partners to keep our neighborhood safe.”
